Priyansh Arya’s Blazing Century Powers Punjab Kings to Victory Over Chennai Super Kings

In a thrilling encounter at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on April 8, 2025, Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a remarkable 18-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK), thanks to a sensational century by 24-year-old Priyansh Arya.

Arya’s Record-Breaking Innings

Opening the batting, Arya set the tone by hitting the first ball of the match for a six. Despite early setbacks that saw PBKS struggling at 83/5 after eight overs, Arya’s aggressive approach never wavered. He reached his maiden IPL century in just 39 balls, making it the joint-fourth fastest hundred in IPL history. His explosive innings of 103 off 42 balls included seven fours and nine sixes, propelling PBKS to a formidable total of 219/6—the highest score recorded at this venue.

Crucial Partnership with Shashank Singh

Arya found a reliable partner in Shashank Singh, who contributed an unbeaten 52. Together, they orchestrated a vital partnership that rescued PBKS from a precarious position and laid the foundation for a commanding total.

CSK’s Response Falls Short

Chasing 220, CSK’s openers, Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra, provided a solid start, reaching 59/0 in the powerplay. Conway top-scored with 69 runs, but despite their efforts, CSK could only manage 201/5 in their 20 overs, falling short by 18 runs.

A Historic Win for Punjab Kings

This victory marks PBKS’s first win at their home ground in Mullanpur, breaking a streak of previous losses. The match will be remembered for Arya’s extraordinary performance, which not only secured the win but also announced his arrival on the big stage in grand fashion.
